SUKKUR, April 29: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) Director-General, Manzoor Qadir, inaugurated the office of the authority here on Thursday. He chaired a meeting with the concerned officers and discussed issues related to under-construction buildings in the city and also issued directives.

Later the DG, along with his team, inspected an under -construction high rise building adjacent to the meat market, collected samples of construction material and directed the concerned officers to send it to Karachi for laboratory tests.

The team carried out survey of 20 under- construction four-storey building in different areas of the city. During primary survey the team detected many technical mistakes on the basis of which a report would be prepared and the exercise would continue for a month.

Besides, Assistant Director of the Authority, Moula Bux Baloch, accompanied by other officers, also inspected under-construction high rise buildings and plazas at Queens, Minara, Shikarpur, Airport, Miani and Bunder Road.

Mr Baloch directed the builders to furnish documents of the under-construction buildings to his office.

Talking to the media, he said that the provincial government has imposed a ban on the Taluka Municipal Administration of Sukkur City after February 14 on issuance of NOCs and builders are now bound to seek NOC for construction of high-rise buildings from the Authority.

He said that the Director-General and Director of the SBCA have issued directives to strictly implement building bylaws, adding that on submission of final report and receipt of further directives , action would be taken against those builders who had violated the building bylaws.
