SWABI, May 5: Khidmat-i-Mazooran (KM), a welfare organisation for special persons, here on Thursday staged a protest against the alleged inefficiency of district chairman of Baitul Maal to facilitate about 1,600 registered special people of the district.

Led by the KM chairman, Sher Rehman, and other office-bearers the special people gathered at their office at Mal Lara and marched towards Kernel Sher Khan Chowk. They were holding placards and chanting slogans against the Baitul Maal officials and demanding immediate transfer of its chairman, Mujeebur Rehman for his non-cooperation.

In this regard, they also handed over a memorandum to DCO Abdul Jabbar at his office.

The special people complained that whenever they visited the chairman’s office they were told that their case had been sent to Islamabad. They said that after checking with Islamabad Baitul Maal offices it came to know that the file had not reached there.

Mr Sher said that in fact Mr Mujeeb did not send the special people’s case to Islamabad, which forced them to stage a protest against an official who should ensure speedy disposal of work for the welfare of special people.

Other KM office-bearers alleged that the Mr Mujeeb had also shifted wheel-chairs from the local Baitul Mal office to an unknown location and deprived the registered deserving people of the facilities. “We want that all the registered special people should be given their due rights,” they said.
