LAHORE, May 10: The City District Government of Lahore has formed special teams to conduct a detailed survey of Charar drain to assess the pollution level of contaminated waste and its impact on the environment.

District environment department officials told APP on Tuesday three teams would conduct the study so that a comprehensive strategy could be formulated to reduce the pollution level.

The sources said factories effluents and sewerage were major sources of environmental pollution in and around the city.

The officials expressed concern that Charar drain waste water was being discharged into the Ravi and the practice posed severe threats to human life and livestock.

After the study, the environment department would seek cooperation of other departments to reduce the pollution level, sources added.
