THATTA, May 15: PML-Q (Shirazi group) took out a procession here on Saturday to express solidarity with Pakistan Army and in protest against what they termed conspiracies against the institution.

The procession was the first one of its kind in decades.

The demonstrators, carrying national flags, banners and placards inscribed with different slogans, marched on the National Highway before gathering at the press club.

Addressing the protesters, PML-Q leader and former district nazim of Thatta, Syed Shafqat Hussain Shah Shirazi, said the nation was proud of its army and would never tolerate conspiracies against the protectors of the country's borders.

MPA Mohammad Ali Malkani said that the ongoing propaganda against the army was part of international nefarious designs to create a gulf of hatred between the military and the public.

Through the conspiracy, he said, the vested interests intended to weaken the most organised and disciplined institution of the country.

Syed Aijaz Ali Shah Shirazi, paid tribute to the army chief, Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and ISI chief Gen Shuja Pasha.
