DADU, June 1: People of Dadu district, which plunged into darkness amid a massive power breakdown on Monday night, took a sigh of relief after power was restored on Wednesday afternoon.

The breakdown had reportedly occurred due to heavy load on a transformer of 500KV in a local grid station. Due to heavy load cables also got damaged.Business and routine life in Dadu, Khudabad, Johi, Phulji, Sita, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Mehar, Fareedabad, Radhan and Thariri Mohbat towns remained paralysed due to breakdown.

The Superintendent Engineer of Sepco (Dadu circle), Dilawar Hussain Memon, told reporters that power

went off from Dadu up to Nasirabad due to heavy load

on a 500KV transformer linked with Dadu grid station.

He denied any technical fault at the grid station and asserted that the outage was because of heavy load on transformer.

He said that he had advised the director National Transmission and Dispatch Company to reduce load on Dadu grid station by stopping power supply to Sita and Khairpur Nathan grids for restoration of supply to Dadu.

After braving unbearable summer for 60 hours, a large number of people from Dadu took to the streets and shouted slogans against Sepco officials.

They also burnt tyres on Dadu-Larkana road and disrupted traffic for couple of hours.
