LAHORE, June 5: Funeral prayers of Punjab Rangers director-general Maj-Gen Muhammad Nawaz and three others, who died in a helicopter crash in Layyah on Wednesday, were offered at the Rangers Headquarters here on Sunday.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa, Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Corps Commanders of Lahore and Gujranwala, high-ranking officers from the military and rangers attended the funeral prayers.

Bodies of Maj-Gen Muhammad Nawaz and Capt Asif Nawaz were flown to Chiniot where they were laid to rest in their ancestral graveyard in Chak 126-JB.

Our Sialkot correspondent adds: Lt-Col Syed Aamir Abbas was laid to rest in his native graveyard in Raheempur village, Uggoki.
