Published October 27, 2002

HYDERABAD, Oct 26: Justice Mushir Alam of the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, here on Friday granted the pre-arrest bail to the Awami National Party leader, Aurangzeb Khan, in an attempted murder case for a sum of Rs100,000.

The hearing of the application has now been fixed for Nov 1. Qurban Ali H. Chohan represented the applicant.

The case was lodged at the A-section police station on April 1 against Imran, his three sons — Fakhar, Hisam, and Iftikhar — Mohammad Niazi, Naeem Gul, and Amjad.

The case was lodged by Riffat Butt, brother of Khalid Butt, a transporter, who was fired upon in Latifabad Unit No7 by unidentified armed bandits.

Aurangzeb Khan filed a bail application after police conducted raids for his arrest in this case on the ground that an accused of the case, Naeem Gul, had given a confessional statement before a civil judge implicating Aurangzeb Khan in the case.
