QUETTA: A division bench of the Balochistan High Court ordered the CCPO Quetta on Wednesday to submit during the next hearing reports of departmental inquiries into the alleged manhandling by police of Dr Baqir Shah, police surgeon of the Bolan Medical Complex.

The court had turned on Tuesday the surgeon’s application against his manhandling into a constitutional petition and summoned the capital city police officer Quetta and SHOs of the City and Gowalmandi police stations on Wednesday.

The bench, comprising BHC Chief Justice Faez Isa Qazi and Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan, asked the CCPO why SHOs Naimatullah and Nasir Alhasan, who had been suspended, were still wearing uniform.

Justice Qazi further asked why police took into their custody the cellphone of Dr Baqir.

The CCPO informed the court that two inquiry committees consisting of senior police officers had been formed to investigate the matter. The hearing was adjourned till June 23.

Meanwhile, the tribunal investigating the killing of five foreigners in Kharotabad completed the process of recording statements.

Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar, a judge of the Balochistan High Court heading the tribunal, recorded the statement of Sajid Haidar, in charge of the IT Department of the CCPO office, who presented a disc, memory cards and CDs to the presiding officer.

In all, 28 witnesses, including police officials, the Frontier Corps staff and journalists, have testified before the tribunal.
