RAWALPINDI, Oct 26: The Employees Old Age Benefit Institute has extended the date of its amnesty scheme till November 15.

This was stated by the director-general of EOBI, Javed R. Siddique, here in a meeting with the President of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Osman Khalid Waheed.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Osman hailed the EOBI’s efforts to simplify its procedure and introduce the amnesty scheme, under which employees without having to produce records of previous years.

However, he said the definition of the world “employees” for contribution purposes needed to be made more specific, as currently it even included short-term contractors, as well as one-time suppliers and service providers.

He further said the EOBI should consider extending the last date of the Self Assessment Scheme, as this would give EOBI and the country’s chambers more time to crate awareness about the scheme. He said under the SAS, records of employers would not be checked for two years. He hoped that the maximum number of employers would avail the benefits of the Amnesty and Self Assessment Schemes.
