THE Education Department of Balochistan has announced the schedule of summer vacation which starts on June 20 and ends on Aug 31 in government schools.

The private schools’ association will observe summer vacation from June 1 to Aug 15. Certainly, this will create inconvenience.

After annual examinations all students were waiting for summer vacation. Students, however, have been upset when they came to know that they have to join school even after the examinations.

Most of the parents had planned to go out of the city to escape scorching weather in the area. May, June and July are the hottest months in Turbat with temperature rising from 45 to 50 degrees Centigrade.

The majority of students are absent from schools because of hot weather and loadshedding.

Keeping schools open in June after examinations, especially in hot weather, defies logic.

In addition, the education department should realise that school schedules are made in the beginning of the academic year and that any change in the schedule upsets the academic activity.

The academic year has ended and school authorities have to start new classes but books are not available. In this situation, what is the use of keeping schools opened?

The summer vacation schedule announced by the education department may be suitable for other cities of Balochistan, but certainly not for Turbat.
