LAHORE, June 16: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) held a demonstration outside the press club here on Thursday against Law Minister Rana Sanaullah for saying that Senator Babar Awan is liable to be murdered.

Holding banners and placards against the ‘outspoken’ member of the Shahbaz cabinet, they demanded his immediate removal.

Speaking on the occasion, MPA Faiza Malik said if Nawaz and Shahbaz wanted smooth functioning of National and Punjab assemblies, they should rein in Nisar Ali Khan and Sanaullah. She said instead of responding to Babar Awan in parliamentary way Sanaullah had started hurling death threats at him.

She said Sanaullah also had links with terror networks and the PML-N should not ignore this.

Malik Mushtaq Awan said the PML-N should not take the PPP for granted owing to its reconciliation policy. He said the time had come to teach a lesson to Sanaullah for crossing all limits. Azizur Rehman Chan, Akbar Khan and Zakriya Butt also spoke.

On Wednesday, Governor Latif Khosa had also asked Shahbaz Sharif to take action against Sanaullah as his statement was “highly inflammatory, grossly unparliamentary and derogatory to all parliamentary norms”. — Staff Reporter
