DADU, June 17: A man died and five others fainted as mercury shot up to 50 degree Celsius in Dadu and its adjoining areas on Friday.

Subhan, 45, fell unconscious at the railway track of Dadu and died. Five others fell unconscious at various places in the town and admitted to private hospitals.

Owing to unbearable heat, the city wore a deserted look by noon as shopkeepers closed their business.

Earlier, two beggars and a nomad died of heatstroke in different parts of the district on Sunday when mercury rose to 51 degree Celsius.—Correspondent
