MURREE, June 25: Reaffirming ban on new constructions in Murree, the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced on Saturday that strict action would be taken against illegal buildings and housing societies. Talking to journalists after a meeting regarding the development projects in Murree, the chief minister said the buildings had eclipsed the beauty of tourist resort.

Replying to a question, he attributed the delay in the projects initiated by the previous government to massive corruption involved in the projects. He said action would be taken against the corrupt.

Replying to a question regarding the abandonment of parking plaza project, the chief minister said all those responsible for presenting faulty survey reports will be taken to task. Despite spending heavy amount and digging of land, the report led to stoppage of work on parking plaza, he said.

He said he was looking for a new site to construct the parking plaza.

The chief minister visited the under construction resource centre at Kashmir Point.
