KOHAT, July 1: Security forces on Friday recovered bullet-riddled bodies of two friends who were kidnapped a few days back.

Their bodies were found in Spina Khawra area of Hangu district. They were identified as Kahliq and Abid. The reason behind their kidnapping and death could not be ascertained by the police who registered a case and launched investigations.

Similarly, body of one Abdur Rehman was found in the tribal Samana area of Hangu by the security forces, which was handed over to the Baliyamina police station.

The police said the man had allegedly entered the house of her beloved and was killed by the inmates who threw his body in the mountains. It was also learnt the deceased and the killers had some family dispute.

Meanwhile, the Kohat police bomb disposal squad on Friday destroyed huge quantity of explosive material including three suicide jackets on the orders of the court.

Officials said the explosive which was seized from militants by foiling terrorism bids in various parts was destroyed in the mountains of Lachi tehsil on Bannu road.

The material included three suicide jackets, three remote controlled bombs, 61 hand grenades, nine mortar shells, 14 rockets, 94 dynamite sticks, 50 marriage bombs, 24,580 packets of crackers, 235kg explosive fertilizer and detonating wire.

SCHOLARSHIPS: The Higher Education Commission will provide more financial help to the 40 scholars of the Kohat University of Science and Technology whose future has been put at stake due to prolonged PhD sessions abroad.

The KUST had sent 44 scholars abroad for PhD on the approval of the HEC but only four returned within the stipulated time period and the remaining could not complete their 36-month courses and required more money and time.

The KUST took up the matter of financial help of the students with the HEC, which agreed to help the students complete their PhD degrees, university officials said on Friday.

BANKS SECURITY: The regional police chief has warned the state-run and private banks to beef up security by installing alarm systems and cameras against the impending threat of heist.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Kohat division, Masood Khan Afridi, while chairing a meeting of the chiefs of the banks on Friday asked them to enhance security at the banks in Kohat, Hangu and Karak districts and do not involve professional security guards in other tasks.

Mr Masood advised them to install internal and external rescue safety home security alarm and long and short circuit cameras to keep watch on the suspected people.
