GILGIT, July 6: Police here have arrested an announcer of Radio Pakistan, Gilgit, for killing her husband with the help of an engineer of the same organisation and his relative, officials said on Wednesday.

Gilgit police said that they had arrested all the three accused. They claimed that announcer Naheed Akhtar had developed illicit relations with Engineer Khan Zaib and managed to kill her husband, Mukhtar Ahmed, with the help of Mr Zaib and his relative.

They said that Mr Ahmed, an employee of a sensitive organisation, disappeared and a complaint was lodged with the Cantonment police station a few days ago.

The police said that the investigators took the mobile phone of Mr Ahmed's wife into custody, which helped them trace out the case.

They said that Mr Ahmed was shot dead with a pistol outside the city after his wife gave him toxic medicine.

Following the interrogation, the police recovered the body and handed it over to the heirs. Police have registered a case against the three accused.

ANTI-NARCOTICS BOARD: The government of Gilgit-Baltistan has decided to set up anti-narcotics board to discourage use of drugs in Gilgit, officials said.
