BERLIN: Dutch midfielder Arjen Robben said on Wednesday he is confident that the German league giants Bayern Munich can win the Champions League next season.

“I still have one big goal: I want to win the Champions League,” the 27-year-old said.

“With (our) strength, the future looks very good. I am confident that we can do it with Bayern.”

Robben was part of the Bayern squad which lost the 2010 Champions League final 2-0 to the then Jose Mourinho-coached Inter Milan in Madrid.

But Bayern still need to win a two-legged play-off this August to be sure of their place in the Champions League next season and Robben says they have to “attack from the first day”.

Bayern have strengthened their squad by signing Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, Brazil defender Rafinha and striker Nils Petersen from second division side Energie Cottbus.

But with stars like French winger Franck Ribery, plus Germany stars Bastian Schweinsteiger, Philipp Lahm and Mario Gomez in their ranks, the Dutchman says there should be no repeat of last season when Bayern finished without any silverware.

“It shouldn't happen to us, but we must be amongst the leaders from the beginning,” he said, with the Bundesliga set to start on August 5.

Robben is under contract at Bayern until June 2013, but says he can imagine finishing his career with the Bavarian giants.

“I feel very well (here). The conditions are really great for me,” he added.
