KOHAT, July 12: The provincial government has installed four water pumps in the KDA Township here with a cost of Rs2.3 million for resolving the water shortage problem faced by its around 30,000 residents.

Commissioner, Kohat division, Sahibzada Mohammad Anees on Tuesday inaugurated the pumps, which had been installed to fill two water tanks constructed in sectors 9 and 4.

KDA Town project director Sakhi Jan Marwat, who accompanied the commissioner, said that the new water pumps would benefit about 30,000 residents.

He said that the old pumps installed in 1981 had completed their life span and were out of use.

He said that two water tanks each of 200,000 gallon capacity had also been constructed, which would enhance water supply pressure.

Meanwhile, the commissioner visited the Kohat Press Club along with DCO Shahidullah Khan.

He also announced Rs100,000 for the press club and said that he was working for early release of Rs1 million announced by Governor Masood Kausar for the welfare of journalists. He said that land for media colony in Kohat would be procured soon.

WHEELCHAIRS: Provincial minister for housing Amjad Afridi donated 10 wheelchairs for the patients during a visit of KDA divisional headquarters hospital on Tuesday.

The minister took a round of the hospital and promised to solve its problems and provide better health facilities to the people.
