LAHORE, July 30: Scores of workers under the banner of Pakistan Workers Confederation Federation held a demonstration against deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi and Quetta, near the Lahore Press Club here on Saturday.

Led by the federation secretary Khurshid Ahmad, the workers raised slogans against the government and law-enforcing agencies for their failure in controlling security situation and exposing those involved behind killings of innocent people.

Speaking on the occasion, Ahmad said poor law and order situation had forced thousands of workers to remain at their homes, resulting closure of industrial units in both the cities. “The situation has also left many workers jobless. The government must take serious steps by maintaining peace on a priority basis,” he added.

He also condemned the attack by unknown men at the building of a media house in Karachi and called it a blatant violation of the freedom of press.
