QUETTA, July 31: Nawabzada Siraj Raisani, the chairman of Muttahida Mahaz Balochistan and brother of Chief Minister Aslam Raisani, said on Sunday that he would continue to raise the slogan of Pakistan although he had been punished for it through the murder of his son Hakmal Raisani in a terrorist attack in Mastung.

Addressing a press conference at his residence after receiving condolences on the death of his son, he said he ‘welcomed’ the punishment. He said he had been receiving threats from unknown people before his visit to Mastung but he ignored them.

Nawabzada Siraj said he was about to leave for Quetta after a prize distribution function in Mastung when unknown people hurled grenades at him. Two grenades exploded near his bullet-proof vehicle, injuring his son, security personnel and other people.

Later, his son died in the CMH in Quetta. He said the attackers wanted to kill him.

Answering a question, he said he would not blame anyone for the attack at the moment and would see if the perpetrators claimed responsibility.  He expressed the hope that the investigators would trace the killers.

Nawabzada Siraj said he belonged to a tribe and would not seek help from anyone. “I believe in non-violence and will not blame anyone till receiving a proof,” he said.

He clarified that he, his family and his tribe had nothing to do with a statement of an organisation, Tehrik Nifaz-i-Amn Balochistan, threatening to take revenge for the murder.
