RAWALPINDI, Aug 1: One of the accused being tried in the Benazir Bhutto assassination case clinched third position in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) annual examination 2011 (general group) of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Rawalpindi; according to the results announced here on Monday.

Abdul Rasheed Ahmed (Roll No 554231) obtained 848 marks out of 1,050. He is being kept in Cell No I of Adiala Jail along with four other accused -Aitzaz Shah, Sher Zaman, Rafaqat Hussain and Hassnain Gul.

Abdul Rasheed Ahmed alias Abdul Rahim Tarbi is a resident of village Srikh Morzai in Batagram. According to the joint investigation team, Ahmed was a student in Madressah Darul Uloom Haqqania, Akora Khattak. He along with three other accused was arrested by the Punjab police in connection with the Kamra missile attack case in January 2008. Aitzaz Shah, who was arrested in Karachi in January 2008 and brought to Rawalpindi, is also studying in the third grade of Islamic education.

“The jail administration provided teachers and other facilities to the accused after he expressed his willingness to complete his studies,” said Adiala Jail Superintendent Mohisn Raffique. He said the jail administration would award Ahmed for his achievement.

Meanwhile, the board announced that the remaining results would be announced on Tuesday.

According to the board, the overall first position was grabbed by Fahad Farooq Ashraf (Roll No 731848) of Divisional Public School, Shamsabad, with 1016 marks. The second position went to Basma Tariq (Roll No 706918) of Munir Public High School Chakwal who obtained 1015 marks while the third position was clinched by Sonia Basharat (Roll No 727611) of Asif Public Girsl High School Rawalpindi with 1008 marks.

In the science group (boys), Fahad Farooq Ashraf (Roll No 731848) secured first position by obtaining 1016 marks, while the second position was grabbed by Ahsan Ali Tariq (Roll No 120250) who obtained 1004 marks. The third position went to Mohammad Fasih (Roll No 712366) with 1003 marks.

In the science group (girls), Basma Tariq (Roll No 706918) clinched the first position by obtaining 1015 marks; Sonia Basharat (Roll No 727611) grabbed second position (1008 marks) while Zainab Khalil (Roll No 728837) with 1003 marks remained third.

In the general group (boys), Mohammad Awais (Roll No 523965) got first position by obtaining 878 marks; Omer Saeed (Roll No 120284) grabbed the second position by securing 866 marks while Rasheed Ahmed (Roll No 554231) remained third with 848 marks.

In the general group (girls), Hafiza Wardah (Roll No 117124) got first position by obtaining 936 marks, Hafiza Maria Abdur Rasheed (Roll No 116986) second position by obtaining 930 marks while Shair Numa (Roll No 101539) remained third with 927 marks.

While talking to Dawn, one of the position holders Sonia Basharat said she wanted to become a doctor.

She belonged to a middle class family and her father is a grade-7 government employee. Basharat Khan said he has six children - three daughters and three sons. He said he was also driving a taxi in the evening to provide better education to his children.
