LAHORE, Aug 10: A Supreme Court bench on Wednesday summoned the former and present Bhakkar DPOs along with the record of cases registered against a man and his family members allegedly for contracting love marriage with niece of an MPA from Mianwali.

Petitioner Babar seeking bail in a narcotics case through his counsel pleaded that police implicated him and his family in criminal cases at the behest of the legislator who happened to be paternal uncle of his wife.

Heading the bench, Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry remarked that was love marriage such an offence that led to imprisonment of a whole family. “If the cases are proved to be fake, the police officials will be sent to jail,” CJP said.
