Officials shifting arrested accused towards safe place after a hoax bomb call at the FIA building in Lahore.-PPI

LAHORE: A bomb hoax in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) building on Temple Road on Saturday prevented Additional Director General Zafar Ahmed Qureshi from attending his 'first day' in office after getting reinstated.

Mr Qureshi, an investigation officer in the NICL case, was infuriated when he was told by his department's constable at the building's gate that the offices had been closed after a bomb threat.

As the constable seemed to be well aware of Mr Qureshi's 'powers and position', he did not allow his car to enter the premises despite 'warnings' from his driver.

Mr Qureshi refused to talk to reporters outside the FIA building when they asked him as to why he was not allowed to enter.

The obvious reason not to respond to the query appears to be his previous suspension for 'talking to media' in violation of the provisions of Rules 18 and 22 of the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules 1964.

On the other hand, an FIA official said the agency's building was cordoned off after an official received a phone call claiming that a bomb had been planted there. “After a thorough search by the bomb disposal squad it turned out to be a hoax,” he said.
