RAWALPINDI, Aug 13: Defence counsel in Benazir Bhutto murder case on Saturday submitted an application before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) seeking copies of the statement of Federal Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Fahim which he gave to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

In his statement, Mr Fahim said Senator Safdar Abbasi had asked Benazir Bhutto to stand from the sunroof of the vehicle and respond to the slogans by waving to the PPP workers.

The court ordered the prosecution to provide the defence counsel with the copies of statements of Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Naheed Khan and Senator Safdar Abbasi on the next date of hearing set for August 20.

Earlier, the court, hearing in Benazir Bhutto murder case, gave more time to FIA to collect details of moveable and immoveable property of former military dictator Pervez Musharraf.

During the in-camera trial at Adiala jail, FIA Prosecutor Chaudhry Mohammad Azhar sought more time for gathering the details of former president Pervez Musharraf’s property.

He said the FIA failed to gather the details of Musharraf’s property from across the country and would need more time.

He said the agency had written letters to chief secretaries as well as Army’s General Headquarters (GHQ) and was waiting for their response.

In the courtroom, besides former city police officer (CPO) Syed Saud Aziz and former SP Rawal Town Khurram Shahzad, the five accused in Benazir Bhutto’s murder – Aitzaz Shah, Rafaqat Zaman, Hasnain Gul, Abdul Rasheed and Sher Zaman were also present.
