GGC Abbottabad in semifinals

PESHAWAR, Nov 5: Government Girls College No.1, Abbottabad moved into semifinal of the badminton championship beating GGC Thana 3-0 in the quarterfinal Tuesday.

Farda of Abbottabad beat Saima of Thana College 11-9 and 11-7 while in the second singles Noureen beat Rashida of Abbottabad 11-7, 11-8. Farda and Rashida overwhelmed Saima and Noureen 15-12, 15-13 in the doubles.

GGC, Saidu Sharif of Swat beat Charsadda Girls College 2-0 in the other quarterfinal. Hida Malik of Swat beat Husna Khan of Charsadda 11-8, 11-9 and Maria Hussain routed Bibi Ausha of Charsadda 11-5, 11-7.

GGC, Manari Swabi beat Jinnah College 2-0. Zainab beat Sadia 11-8, 11-9 while Namreen overcame Amy Waqar 11-7, 11-6.

GGC Mardan edged out GGC Kohat 2-1. In the first singles Nadia of Kohat outmanouvred Bushra of Mardan 11-9, 2-11, 11-9, 8-11, 11-8 11-5.

In the second singles Shaista of Mardan beat Sadaf of Kohat 11-9, 11-4. Bushra and Shaista breezed past Nadia and Sadaf 15-13, 15-12 in the doubles.
