ATTOCK, Aug 22: National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has suspended the supply of computerised birth registration forms to the all 25 Union councils (UCs) of Attock and Hazro tehsil as they have not paid its two years dues amounting to Rs300,000, it has been learnt.

Under an agreement of Child Registration & Management System (CRMS), the UCs were bound to pay the amount for the issuance of computerised birth certificates.

A month back, Nadra had warned the UCs and Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) of Attock and Hazro to clear their liabilities, but its warning fell on deaf ears.

During a visit to Union council (UC) Attock-1 by this correspondent the secretary of UC Attock-1 admitted that Nadra had refused to supply the papers due to non-payment of its dues.

He said the UC had run out of forms and was offering manual birth certificates.

He, however, admitted that people preferred computerised birth registration certificates for being authentic for any official correspondence.

Every UC charges Rs100 fee for birth registration, out of which it pays Rs50 to Nadra.

Commenting over the situation, the Supervisor CRMS, Nadra office, Attock, Yasir Shah said their two years bills over Rs300,000 had been lying with the auditor branch of Attock tehsil TMA, although it has been approved by the TMA administrator.
