MARDAN, Aug 23: Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti on Tuesday inaugurated four canal patrol roads, recently constructed by the Irrigation Department in Mardan.

He also laid the foundation stones of two other canal patrol roads and provision of sui gas to several villages. Awami National Party's district president Abbas Khan, president of PK-23 Shah Nawaz Khan and general secretary Latifur Rahman, chief engineer of Irrigation Department Alam Zeb Khan, SDO Alamzeb, officials of administration and police, ANP workers and a large number of local notables were present on the occasion.

The chief minister inaugurated Sheikh Yousaf Minor road and Kuragh Branch-Haider Khan Kallay road, each constructed with a cost Rs54 million. Besides, he inaugurated two more canal patrol roads; one from the Guide Minar to Jhandy village and the other from Bilal mosque Bijligar to Bypass road, built with the cost of Rs35 million and Rs27 million, respectively.

He also laid the foundation stones of two more roads; one from Mian Gul village to Bypass and the other from Charsadda road to Fazal village. These projects would cost Rs91 million.

Besides, Mr Hoti laid the foundation of the project for provision of gas to Kurkury Wala. On this occasion, he told the people present at the ceremony that the government would soon start construction of Rag Naray road. He also asked the irrigation officials to install fences and streetlights on the road alongside the Nullah located on Bijligar bypass road.

The chief minister also talked intimately to people gathered at different areas to welcome him despite the scorching heat. Mr Hoti sought suggestions of the people and party workers to solve problems in their respective areas. The people also chanted slogans in favour of the chief minister and thanked him on completion of the large-scale development schemes in his hometown.
