KOHAT, Aug 28: A police investigation team has widened the scope of investigation into the cold blooded murder of a retired colonel in the light of the statement recorded by his wife, who has nominated three suspects in the FIR.

Following the statement of the slain colonel's wife, Naila Mahjabeen, police launched search operation in Defence Colony, Meri Colony, Dhoda and Jarma areas of Kohat and arrested several suspects for interrogation.

The investigation team had collected finger and footprints from the site of the kidnapping and from the car used in the incident. The engine number of the Alto car had also been sent to the excise and taxation department for the identification of its owner.

Colonel (retired) Shakeel Ahmed Tariq was kidnapped on gunpoint from defence colony when he was going to mosque for offering morning prayers and later was killed.

However, no solid headway has been made by the police investigation team in the high profile case of kidnapping and killing which has caused immense fear among the civilians and non-civilians alike.

ABDUCTED PARAMEDIC: The medical technician, who was kidnapped on August 16, reached home on Sunday.

The junior medical technician, Moinullah, was abducted by unknown men from his official quarter in Ghurzandi area of Lachi tehsil.

The paramedics associations, which had been observing token strike during duty hours since the technician's abduction, had also threatened to go on a complete strike from August 27 for indefinite period if the kidnapped man was not recovered.

The police, which had been blaming a group of health department for the kidnapping, have recorded the statement of the victim to find the real motive behind his abduction.

LIQUOR SEIZED: The police seized ten drums full of locally-made liquor at Togh Khola area here on Sunday, which were being smuggled into Kohat from Punjab.

The police signaled a suspicious tractor trolley coming from Chorlakki area at Tangi Khola, but those boarding the tractor, they were three in number, fled away leaving behind their vehicle. Upon search the police found ten drums filled with 1,750 litres of liquor.

The Gumbat police registered a case against an inter-provincial gang of smugglers.
