LARKANA, Nov 7: The district Nazim has asked the members of the Larkana district council to submit development schemes in a fortnight.
Speaking at the district council session here on Thursday, the district Nazim, Khursheed Junejo, said that Rs10 million had been earmarked for the schemes under Khushhal Pakistan Programme, phase-4.
He asked the EDOs of different departments to compulsorily attend the sessions of the house.
The session, unanimously adopted a resolution, urging the Sindh government to give stipend to Nazimeen and their deputies, like the Balochistan and NWFP governments did.
Moving the resolution, Safdar Mithani said that since the birth of the devolution of power plan, the Nazimeen and their deputies were receiving stipend in Balochistan and the NWFP, but those of Sindh were denied of it. He showed the notifications of the governments of Balochistan and NWFP in this regard.
Amir Bakhsh Gaad, Abdul Qadir Sangi, Khair Mohammed Shaikh, Mohammed Hayat Shaikh, Khursheed Talat Khatyan and Taj Mohammed Jamali supported the resolution.
The house decided that the district Nazim would approach the chairman of the National Reconstruction Bureau to ask him to remove the disparity.
The EDOs of health and education, Dr Abdul Wahab Wadho and Professor Shahnawaz Memon, replied to the queries of the members.
Dr Wadho said that appointments of the drivers had been made according to the procedure and assured the house that any children could be vaccinated against Hepatitis-B free of cost at the immunization centres in the district.
Memon said that deputation of the employees of his department had been cancelled according to the orders of the district Nazim.
Interrupting him, Gaad pointed towards the improper utilization of the funds of the school management committees.
He said that it was established by an inquiry that the appointment of 35 teachers was bogus but the EDO, education, had only terminated six of them and he was avoiding to point out that which officers had made the appointments.
The session, which was presided over by Athar Abbas Solangi, was adjourned till Dec 1.
