KOHAT, Aug 28: Authorities have banned the entry of all kind of traffic and civilians in the limits of the Kohat cantonment from August 29 till September 3.

In a statement, an official said that the cantonment limits would remain closed for all kind of traffic and civilians and only the residents could use the military police checkpost near the DIG's residence and near Moti Masjid for going to their homes. The step has been taken to avoid any untoward incident during Eidul Fitr holidays.

The Kohat cantonment was already a restricted area for civilians for the last several years which was causing mental agony and transportation problem to the people who used it as a short route to reach their homes in KDA town and Rawalpindi road.

The passage of vehicles had been banned through cantonment following suicide attacks at military sites in the past. The army personnel had been strictly directed to avoid going to bazaar while wearing uniform for their safety and take highest care while moving in civilian areas. Now they are forced to use the long Jungle Khel road for reaching KDA and railway crossing on the Bannu road. —Correspondent
