TOBA TEK SINGH, Nov 7: Hundreds of acres of crops were inundated on Wednesday night as a breach occurred in Jhang Branch Canal near Janiwala at Chak 286-JB.

The area people and the Irrigation staff could not plug the 25-feet wide breach till the filing of this report.

The Irrigation department has ordered a probe.

CONDEMNED: Former federal minister and PML-N leader Chaudhry Asadur Rehman has condemned the postponement of holding the first national assembly session.

Talking to newsmen here on Thursday, he said the government was not willing to transfer powers to elected representatives and it was creating a situation similar to 1971 which had resulted in the breaking away of the country.

Anticipating its defeat in prime minister’s election, he said the PML-Q had conspired with the government and the session was postponed.

He also opposed the proposal of ending the floor crossing condition and demanded that the government should immediately summon the session so that powers could be transferred to real representatives.
