PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and tribal areas will keep up their tradition of two Eids thanks to an announcement by the maverick.

“Ruet-i-Hilal committee” based in the Qasim Ali Khan mosque said that moon had been sighted on Monday.

Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and Egypt will also celebrate Eidul Fitr on Tuesday.

Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai, who chaired a meeting of the committee, proclai-med that Eidul Fitr would be celebrated on Tuesday as sufficient evidence about sighting of the Shawwal moon had been received from different areas of the province.

“About 10 people appeared before the Ulema and gave convincing evidence about moon sighting,” he told media after the meeting.

Ulema in Mardan, Bannu, Charsadda, Bajaur Agency and North Waziristan followed the Peshawar-based body's announcement with their own declarations that Eid moon had been sighted on Monday.
