PESHAWAR, Sept 5: Four permanent judges of the Peshawar High Court recently appointed by the president took oath here on Monday.
Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan administered oath to the judges -- Justice Attaullah Khan, Justice Miftauddin Khan, Justice Mian Fasihul Mulk and Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel. The four judges were serving as additional judges and were appointed as permanent judges of the high court under Article 193 of the Constitution in accordance with the recommendations of the Judicial Commission and Parliamentary Committee for appointment of judges.
The ceremony was attended by other PHC judges, Registrar Syed Musadiq Hussain Gillani, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa advocate general, Asadullah Khan Chamkani, the deputy attorneys general Mohammad Iqbal Mohmand, Muzamil Khan and Muhammad Khursheed, the president of Peshawar High Court Bar Association, Khwaja Mohammad Khan Gara, its general secretary Ameenur Rehman, and large number of lawyers.
The additional registrar, Niaz Mohammad Khan, read out the order of President Asif Ali Zardari.With the appointment of these four judges the number of permanent judges has risen to seven. The three other permanent judges are Chief Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Shahjehan Khan Yousafzai and Justice Dost Mohammad Khan.
These four judges were appointed as additional judges for a period of one year in Sept 2009. Subsequently, their services were extended for further one year in 2010.
