SRINAGAR, Nov 15: Four Indian army soldiers were among nine people killed in occupied Kashmir in continuing clashes, police said on Thursday.
They said Mujahideen armed with AK rifles and grenades attacked an army patrol early on Thursday at Ajas, near Bandipora township, 60 kilometres north of Srinagar.
Two soldiers died instantly, while two more were taken to an army hospital with serious injuries.
“One of the injured later died in hospital,” a police spokesman said.”The soldiers were on a counter-insurgency mission when militants (Mujahideen) attacked them,” he added.
Another soldier was killed and two more injured in an ambush by the Mujahideen at village Manda near Baderwah township, 240 kilometres south of Srinagar, on Thursday, police said. The soldiers returned the fire, killing a freedom fighter.—AFP
