SWABI, Nov 9: Speakers at a seminar on Saturday emphasized that Ulema through sermons and preaching could educate masses on the menace of HIV/AIDS and thus help shield people from the killer disease.

The seminar on Aids prevention organized by a local NGO, Sahar Network, in collaboration with Unicef was attended by the Ulema and leaders of religious parties.

In his speech, Dr Sherin said that though the HIV/AIDS patients posed no threat to their fellows, people must not ignore the disease as a common one.

The district deputy director of health, Dr Zahin, said that the truth about AIDS should be passed from one person to another, especially among the illiterate.

He went through different aspects of preventive measures and said awareness about the causes of HIV/AIDS was vital.
