MARDAN, Sept 16: Four cases of dengue virus have been detected in Mardan city during the past two days, health officials said here on Friday.

Executive District Officer (health) Dr Ayub Roz confirmed the dengue cases and said that the department had been taking measures to stop spread of the virus.He said that they had also taken blood samples of several residents and had sent them to laboratories for test.

He said that a patient, Tahir Munir, had recently returned from Lahore that was why it was believed that he was affected by dengue virus over there. Dawn

Dr Roz said that they had established isolation wards in the district headquarters hospital and Mardan Medical Complex for the dengue patients. Besides, joint teams of health and TMA had been constituted which had been carrying out spray in the city.Health officials told that they had taken blood samples of over two dozen suspected patients in which four patients were found positive of dengue virus.

One each of dengue patient belonged to Inzargai area of Shamozai union council and Baizu Kharki while the other two belonged to Dagi Mohallah.

The patients were identified as Maryam, 4, Tahir Munir, 23, Jameel, 28, and a woman.
