LANDI KOTAL/NOWSHERA, Sept 19: A driver was killed and his cleaner received injuries when militants attacked Nato containers in Khyber Agency while an oil tanker was blown up in Nowshera on Tuesday.

Officials said that militants riding in a non-registered car opened indiscriminate firing on Nato containers, parked on Torkham bypass road near degree college.

The firing resulted in killing of a truck driver and injuries to his cleaner, who was shifted to local hospital in critical condition, they added. The attackers managed to escape in the darkness.

Sources said that khasadars at a nearby post didn't chase the fleeing militants.

Meanwhile, unidentified persons blew up an oil tanker, supplying fuel to Nato forces in Afghanistan, on G.T. Road in Nowshera on Monday.

Police said that flames of fire engulfed the oil tanker when a remote controlled bomb, fitted into it, went off near Shaidu area of the district.

However, no loss of life was reported in the incident. The Akora Khattak police station registered a case and started investigation.
