MARDAN, Sept 20: The local chapter of All Pakistan Contractors Association, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has demanded an impartial inquiry against what they called illegal cancellation of tenders by the tehsil municipal officer in order to allot them to his blue-eyed contractors.

The contractors including Rahim Dad, Shabir Khan, Qadeem Shah, Sajjad Khan, Tajul Akbar, Yousaf Khan and others, said this during a press conference at Mardan Press Club the other day.

They pointed out that several contractors of the city had applied for the tender after the TMO Mardan Mohammad Shah Afridi advertised the contracts in newspapers on Sept 13 for different development projects estimated at Rs87 million.

They said the applicants, later, were informed by the TMO that the said tender had been cancelled without mentioning any reason. Besides, the contractors were also not given satisfactory reply when they visited the TMO office to ascertain actual reason of the cancellation of the tender, they added. —Correspondent
