KASUR, Sept 27: An unmanned ‘spy’ plane fell into a pond after hitting a house on Monday night in border area Sarhali Kalan Village in the limits of Mustafabad police station.

Sarhali Kalan is some 8-km away from the border and 7-km from main Ferozepur Road.

The district administration, army personnel, agencies men and bomb disposal squad rushed to the spot on Tuesday morning when some channels aired the news.

The small plane made of fibre glass was about five-foot long with six-foot wings fitted with batteries and other instruments.

The plane that was flying at low altitude on Monday night hit the wall of a house and later fell into the village pond. Its front part was badly damaged. However, a villager took it to his house.

On Tuesday morning, the district administration, including Kasur DCO Irshad Husain Shah, DPO Khuram Ali, bomb disposal squad, army personnel and other intelligence agencies men reached the spot and started investigation.

DCO Irshad Husain told Dawn the plane apparently looked like a toy -- five feet in length and some six feet in width.

“As the incident took place near the border area and in view of the prevailing terrorism the possibility of it being a spy plane could not be ruled out.”

He said the plane had been handed over to intelligence agencies officials for further investigation.

According to an intelligence agency, no one has been arrested in this respect as claimed by a private TV channel.

It said the plane had been taken to Lahore for technical analysis.

Complicated net of wires and radar-type system on its top and other strange gadgets have made the plane suspected.
