RAWALPINDI, Sept 28: The mastermind of General Headquarters (GHQ) attack in the year 2009, who was last month sentenced to death by a military court, has been shifted to Central Jail Faisalabad, it has been learnt.

Earlier, armyman Aqeel alias Dr Usman had been handed over to the Adiala jail authorities who shifted him to the high security barrack of the Faisalabad jail amid tight security on Wednesday. Sources said security problem was the reason for shifting of the convict.

A group of militants armed with automatic weapons, grenades and rocket launchers attacked the GHQ on October 10, 2009, killing six army personnel. Nine of the militants were also killed while Aqeel was arrested in wounded condition.

He along with seven other persons, including armed forces personnel, was tried in the military court, which awarded him capital punishment.
