KARACHI, Oct 2: Sara Ahmed clinched the ladies singles title of the Subh-e-Nau Ranking tennis championship at the CDGK Sports Complex on Sunday.

Sara, after losing the first set against new sensation Maheen Dada, came back strongly to display some superb forehand and backhand shots.

Though Maheen fought well, Sara proved a superior player by winning the match 2-1.

Omer Shahid emerged winner against Vinod Das in the final of men’s singles.

Omer overpowered his opponent 2-0.

Player of the tournament Adil Kohari continued his brilliant run in the tournament by clinching the boys’ U-17 title.

He defeated Hassan Siddiqui 6-0, 6-1.

Maheen Dada also did well to bag the girls’ U-17 crown when she defeated Hania Ahmed.

Bilal Imran was declared boys’ U-11 champion.

A total of Rs25,000 prize money was distributed among winners and runner-up players of the tournament.

Results (finals): Men’s singles: Omer Shahid bt Vinod Das 6-2, 6-2.

Ladies’ singles: Sara Ahmed bt Maheen Dada 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.

Boys’ U-17: Adil Kohari bt Hassan Siddiqui 6-0, 6-1.

Girls’ U-17: Maheen Dada bt Hania Naveed 6-0, 6-0.

Boys’ U-11: Bilal Imran bt Mohammad Dada 5-7, 6-3(10-7) Super tie break.—Agencies
