ISLAMABAD, Oct 3: Officials of a premier intelligence agency informed the commission investigating the May 2 US raid on Osama bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad on Monday that the American authorities had carried the operation unilaterally without taking Pakistan on board.

The commission headed by Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal and comprising former inspector general of police Abbas Khan, former ambassador Ashraf Jehangir Qazi and Lt-Gen (retd) Nadeem Ahmed interviewed the agency's officials who are also investigating the incident.

According to an official handout, the agency's investigators gave a detailed briefing to the commission and explained their perspective on the US raid, including the background of information and post-operation investigation findings.

They will brief the commission again on Oct 4 and 6.

According to sources, members of the commission asked the agency officials how did Bin Laden get shelter in the highly-sensitive military town. The commission also raised some other issues and asked the officials to come up with satisfactory answers at the next meeting.
