LAHORE, Oct 5: A former Punjab governor and founding president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid, Mian Muhammad Azhar, announced joining Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) as the latter termed the addition “a great victory in the fight for Lahore”.

Making the announcement at a ceremony held here at his residence on Wednesday, Mian Azhar, who has also been a mayor of Lahore, said the country needed leaders like Imran Khan and those who considered the city their citadel should know that the PTI would soon conquer it.

Urging the masses to take to street against the rulers, he said it was the only option left with them to tackle skyrocketing prices, unemployment and to remove the clouds of uncertainty and disappointment shrouding the country.

Welcoming Mian Azhar into PTI folds, Imran said with his joining the party the PTI had achieved a great victory in ‘the battle for Lahore’.

He declared that it would be decided soon that who held sway in the city and that with this the future of the province as well as of the country would also be decided.

He lauded Hammad Azhar, son of Mian Azhar, for convincing his father to join the PTI and urged the younger generation to inform their elders that change for a better future was all the more important and the country could not survive without it.
