QUETTA, Oct 7: A senior official of the Balochistan food department was killed and his son and a passer-by were injured when gunmen attacked them here on Friday night, police said.

“Armed men riding a motorbike opened fire at them in Tin Town on Kasi Road,” police said. Idrees Ahmed, a section officer in the provincial food department, died and his son Aizaz Ali and passer-by Saeed Ahmed were injured.

They were taken to Sandeman Civil Hospital.

Law-enforcement agencies personnel cordoned off the area and launched a hunt for the assailants. An investigation into the attack was launched.
