ISLAMABAD, Nov 12: The former prime minister and PPP chairperson, Benazir Bhutto, on hearing the news of her mother-in-law‘s death expressed her condolences to her in-laws by telephone.

According to the PPP media cell here, Benazir, spoke to her husband Asif Ali Zardari, her father-in-law, Hakim Ali Zardari, and her sister-in-law to condole the death of her Ms Zardari, on Tuesday at Ziauddin Hospital, Karachi.

Ms Zardari died on Tuesday morning after long illness.

Asif, who has been in prison for six years, when he arrived at the hospital in Karachi from Islamabad, his mother was already in coma.

AMIN: PPP President, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, has condoled the death of the mother of Asif Zardari, our reporter adds.

In a statement on Tuesday, Makhdoom Amin Fahim said he was deeply grieved to learn about the death of the mother of Asif Ali Zardari, who is incarcerated for the last six years on what he called “trumped up charges. That Zardari had to experience this loss at a time when he himself is behind bars makes it even more poignant.”

He prayed to Allah to rest the soul of the deceased in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss with fortitude.

Nawaz: The leader of the PML-N, Mian Nawaz Sharif, and his younger brother, Shahbaz Sharif, in their joint message of condolence issued from Jeddah, have expressed their deep sense of shock and sorrow over the death of the mother of Asif Zardari.

In their joint condolence message sent to Asif Zardari, the two brothers said: “Demise of your mother at the hour of your detention in jail is a terrible tragedy even the thought of which pierces the hearts of the human beings.”

They prayed to the Almighty Allah to grant him power and patience to bear this shock.

President of Millat Party, Farooq Ahmad Leghari, Information Minister Nisar Memon, and Interior Minister Moin Haider also condoled the death.
