HYDERABAD, Oct 10: A large number of women took part in a demonstration against former provincial home minister Dr Zulfikar Mirza and burnt his effigies outside the press club here on Monday.

Carrying placards inscribed with slogans against Dr Mirza, the women accused him of trying to foment ethnic riots in Sindh and also of conspiring to divide the province.

They said that when people of Badin were being drowned by the raging torrents, Dr Mirza left the country but had now returned to fan the fire of hatred.

The demonstrators accused the former minister of patronising the People’s Amn Committee, alleging that “terrorists and drug peddlers” had taken shelter in the organisation.

Our Nawabshah correspondent adds: A similar demonstration was held in Nawabshah outside the press club on Monday.

Carrying banners and placards, the demonstrators chanted slogans against Dr Mirza.
