KARACHI, Oct 12: Pakistan entered its name in the annals of the game by scooping gold in the inaugural South Asian Beach Games kabaddi final, defeating formidable India 42-33 at Hambantota, Sri Lanka, the other day.

This is only the second time Pakistan has beaten arch rivals, the previous being in Dhaka SAF Games in 1993.

According to the information available here, besides Pakistan and India, teams from host Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Maldives and Afghanistan featured in the beach kabaddi event.

Captained by Nasir Ali, the victorious Pakistan team comprised Wajid Ali, Abrar Khan, Mohammad Khalid, Akhlaq Hussain and Atif Waheed.
