SANGHAR, Oct 13: Most of the rain victims have yet to get relief goods because of mismanagement and favouritism in the distribution of ration packets, tents and relief goods, according to a survey conducted by Dawn.
The district administration and NGOs have failed to provide ration to several rain-affected areas in the district.
Sibghatullah Shah Union Council of Sinjhoro taluka is one of the worst affected areas in the district.
Mir Mohammad Liskani, of Kewro Khan Liskani village, said his livestock had perished and crops inundated. He complained that his village did not get tents, ration or relief goods.
“The villagers are living in government school building as our village is in knee-deep water. Gastroenteritis, malaria and skin diseases are spreading”, he said.
Mohammad Urs Talpur, of Bakhshan Talpur village, said the union council's road link with other regions stood suspended due to submerging of road near Thaheem Minor.
He alleged that no medical team had visited the area.
Mr Talpur feared Rabi crops would not be grown in the area because cultivable land had come under two to three feet of water.
Teela Ram of Manglio Bheel village, which consists of 80 houses, told Dawn that the villagers were living along the roadside and under trees after inundation of their village.
Devotees of former foreign minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi were completely ignored by the government although they were among the worst affected.
