PESHAWAR, Nov 9: The transporters, supplying goods to Afghanistan, have alleged that personnel of police and Customs stop them at different checkpoints to extort money from them.
They have also demanded of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Barrister Masood Kausar to take notice of the situation and injustices with them.
“It is a habit of police to block way of loaded trucks and trailers, supplying goods to Afghanistan. These vehicles are permitted to go ahead after payment of money,” Mohammad Noor Khan, the president of Pak-Afghan Transport Owners Association, told journalists here on Wednesday.
He said that their vehicles were stopped at different checkpoints from Attock Bridge to Torkham by police and Customs to get money for them.
“In some areas like Ring Road, G.T. Road and Jamrud Road, police and Customs personnel jointly surround the trucks and force the drivers to pay money or go back,” he alleged.
He said that the transport operatives had no other option but to pay money to the law enforcers.
