BAHAWALPUR, Nov 12: All posts of SP rank officers have fallen vacant after SP (traffic) Sharif Zafar’s transfer on Friday.

Zafar has been transferred to Multan as SP (investigation).

The post of the district police officer has been vacant since September after DPO Babar Bakht Qureshi, who was on ex-Pakistan leave, was transferred and made OSD by the government. The posts of additional SP and SP (investigation) have also been vacant for the last two months. Crimes Branch SP Gohar Mushtaq Bhutta, who was officiating as the district police officer, went on leave on Friday.

Now Regional Police Officer Syed Abid Qadri is taking care of all vacant offices.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had announced last month during his visit to the district that the district police chief would be appointed here within 48 hours of his announcement. However, he has yet to get his announcement executed.

In consequence, complainants are suffering heavily.
