LAHORE, Nov 14: Some members of the Faisalabad Region team are reluctant to play their next match of the ongoing Quaid-i-Azam Trophy against Abbotabad in Swabi due to security concerns.

The match is due to start from Nov 18.

“The Swabi district is not considered safe as several bomb blasts have occured in the area during the past few years.

Therefore, several players of the Faisalabad team are apprehensive about playing there,” one of Faisalabad’s cricketers told Dawn on condition of anonymity.

“We don’t know what has forced the PCB to select Swabi as venue when the Abbottabad ground is also available for the matches,” he said.

“Under tense conditions, the players may not be able to give their 100 per cent in the match. So it is better to shift the match to Abbottabad.”
